Detroit City Hall wedding

We are living in unprecedented times. No life, no industry, is untouched by the pandemic we are currently experiencing. Though it's only been about a month, gathering in large groups seems like a dream of the distant past. I miss it so much and I'm sure most of you do too.

Many of my 2020 couples, especially spring ones, are currently reimagining what their wedding day will look like. Some are choosing to have an intimate celebration now and a larger celebration later. When you've spent 12 months dreaming of a 175 person party, it's hard to suddenly envision it with 20 people. I wanted to share Kate + Zak's 2019 wedding to show just how beautiful a smaller event can be. While their wedding day ended with a dinner party of about 75 guests, the ceremony itself was just with immediate family. I loved their day so much -- one of my favorite parts was wandering through downtown Detroit for our casual portrait session -- so I'd want to share this even if it didn't feel so timely. But if you're in the middle of changing up your wedding plans, I hope it helps even a little bit for you to see just how magical an intimate city hall ceremony can be.
