While I’ve always treasured the chance to document families, it’s never been more meaningful to me than it is now, having just welcomed my first child.
WHAT My family sessions are a blend of candid, interactive photos and relaxed portraits. My focus is on capturing your family naturally and in a hands-off style — I’ll provide some guidance and direction, but won’t force any smiles or spend more than a few minutes trying to get a “perfect” portrait. This might mean cuddling on the couch, making breakfast, a walk around the block, or just hanging out. Edited, high res images are delivered digitally in a private gallery and include personal printing rights.
WHERE Ideally, your home or neighborhood. I occasionally do sessions on Lake Michigan or at another location like a local park, but give scheduling preference to clients who do sessions at or near their home. My availability outside of West Michigan is limited, but I try my best to accommodate my beloved Metro Detroit + Ann Arbor families whenever possible!
WHO Families with children age 10 or younger, or with no kids at all — I love photographing couples (and their pets). I’m not currently offering extended family photos.
WHEN The sessions last approximately 30 minutes and generally take place on weekdays. Weddings are my main gig, so weekend availability for portrait sessions is quite scarce. I book a max of eight weeks out, but feel free to get in touch at any time for more info. If you’re hoping to do photos for a holiday card, be sure your session takes place by mid-November.
